Job Description

Job Overview:

Our client, a top Texas architecture firm, is seeking a Construction Administrator for our Houston office due to the high growth and expansion our client is experiencing. This position will manage and enforce the construction contract of multiple projects during the construction phase to ensure the highest quality in accordance with the design intent dictated in the Contract Documents.

Responsibilities:

  • Observe construction work for general conformance with the Contract Documents, including communicating deficiency lists at relevant times during the construction process and performing Substantial Completion and Final Completion Inspections.
  • Initiate and lead necessary meetings throughout the construction process, including the Pre-Construction conference, regularly occurring OAC Meetings, Pre-Installation conferences, and close-out meetings.
  • Process RFIs, ASIs, Proposed Change Orders, and manage the Submittal process.
  • Issue procedural documents relevant to the Contract for Construction, including issuing the Notice to Proceed, evaluating requests for payments, preparing and issuing Change Orders and Certificates of Substantial Completion.
  • Review the results of construction tests and inspections from the third-party testing lab. Request plans to correct non-conforming work and coordinate consulting Engineers' responses to the reports.
  • Administer the completion and closeout process for the Owner.
  • Monitor post-construction warranty requests.
  • Perform quality control review of drawings and specifications during the construction document phase.
  • Ensure positive representation of the company through strong personal presentation skills.

Requirements:

  • Academic/Professional:
  • Professional degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited University or degree in Construction Management preferred.
  • Registered Architect desirable.
  • LEED® AP desirable.

  • Competencies:
  • Knowledgeable about Architecture practice and construction process.
  • Excellent communicator who works well with a large team of diverse personalities and is adept at conflict resolution.

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Must be able to drive.
  • Must be able to walk construction sites with varying degrees of challenging terrain.
  • Must be able to climb ladders to review work performed on upper levels and roofs.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an Architecture Firm or Construction Company on commercial projects.
  • Experience in K-12 and/or Higher Ed market sectors is required.
  • Proficiency with relevant software, including MS Office. Working knowledge of Bluebeam preferred, and Revit, AutoCAD desirable.
