Job Location: Jefferson City, Missouri.

Why you'll love this position: The traffic operations engineer is a supervisor position which evaluates signing, signals, pavement marking and lighting field operations and implements safety improvements; directs and supervises traffic engineering, technician and access management personnel; oversees permits operations and traffic studies. Responsibilities are performed under general supervision.

• Directs traffic signal operations, pavement marking and traffic operations.
• Conducts field inspections of signing, pavement marking, signal operations, access issues and traffic operations.
• Provides traffic expertise and serves as a technical resource for construction on project core teams and for maintenance crews to resolve engineering concerns; participates in the project scoping process.
• Conducts and evaluates traffic studies and makes traffic control and safety improvement recommendations.
• Coordinates traffic safety programs including hazard elimination, wet/dry, innovative signal improvements, law enforcement safety task forces, and the state's strategic highway safety plan.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university curriculum.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the State of Missouri.
• Six years of experience in transportation engineering, including traffic analysis and design of traffic control devices.
• • Will consider alternate transportation experience.
• Conditional waiver of minimum requirements may be considered.
