Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Long Beach, CA

Shift/Schedule: Mon-Fri (On-site)

Salary Range: $91,000. - $130,000. (Exempt)

Reports to: Director of Engineering and Operations

Position Overview: As a Senior Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will utilize your expertise in design, development, and manufacturing to deliver innovative solutions that address our customers’ most significant challenges. You will collaborate closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to develop and optimize additive manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery of parts. This role involves direct customer interaction, engineering collaborative solutions, and staying ahead of industry trends in a rapidly evolving field.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and develop end-to-end additive manufacturing processes for hardware design and engineering.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure timely delivery of parts that meet customer and industry requirements.
  • Engage with customers professionally to engineer parts and foster long-term relationships.
  • Apply Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) techniques to optimize designs.
  • Support and learn from R&D programs and contribute to cross-departmental projects.
  • Enhance and optimize existing industrial equipment for additive manufacturing.
  • Stay current with industry trends and maintain knowledge of client business challenges.
  • Define, develop, and document AS9100 quality processes and procedures.

Job Duties:

  • Verify customer requirements for additive manufacturing solutions and document them accurately.
  • Generate engineering and manufacturing proposals in response to customer RFPs.
  • Support relationship growth with high-potential accounts to prioritize development opportunities.
  • Collaborate on the development of new applications, processes, and testing initiatives.
  • Improve reliability and performance of industrial equipment used in additive manufacturing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and advancements.
  • Seek educational and training opportunities to enhance technological expertise.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in metal additive manufacturing.
  • Ability to learn and apply various aerospace-related additive manufacturing systems.
  • Strong hands-on skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in CAD modeling, Finite Element Analysis, and GD&T.
  • Fundamental understanding of thermal-mechanical issues, materials science, and metallurgy.
  • Technical experience with metal additive manufacturing machines (DMLS).
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Quality Standards and Documentation Requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret specification requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET Security Clearance.
