Position: Risk Manager
Position Summary:
The Risk Manager is responsible for the ongoing, effective operation of Risk Management
activities in the acute care facility, behavioral health unit and off-site clinics. Such responsibilities include incorporation
of the Corporate Risk Management TERM program into the overall functioning of Acute Care, BH and Clinics. The Risk
Manager supports an organizational culture of Safety and Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence
standards to all customer groups.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Demonstrates leadership and participation in the provision of departmental reports and patient safety
initiatives. This includes reporting to various risk reduction teams, Medical Staff Office, and Corporate
Risk. Responds to department needs with the ability to prioritize and direct departmental processes and
activities. Demonstrates leadership and organizational skills in preparing claim files on potential and
actual claims. Demonstrates appropriate leadership skills in planning, organizing, and coordinating risk
activities in relation to the UHS and NWTHS mission, vision, strategic goals, and values, and in
accordance with The Joint Commission leadership standards.

QualificationsRequirements:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, or other Healthcare related field. Minimum of 2 years of college required. Relevant
work experience may be substituted for each year of required education.
2. Minimum 5 years clinical experience.
3. Experience in Healthcare Risk Management or Quality preferred
4. Interview skills and experience in incident investigation.
5. Demonstrates high level of organizational skills.
6. Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
7. Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications.
8. Ability to perform statistical analysis on data collected via risk management reporting.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
1. Ability to read, write and converse in English
2. Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
3. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions
4. Ability to communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors,
attorneys
5. Ability to remain calm under stress
6. Ability to lift, carry, push, pull 25 pounds
7. Ability to repeatedly twist, squat and stoop.
8. Bending, lifting (minimum of 25 pounds), grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing, and pulling.
9. Ability to adapt to any working environment
