Job Description

Who You Are:

As the Merchandiser, you are responsible for managing the Buying process to build compelling commercial ranges of products for the regional business and contribute to the development of the Company’s overall goals, ensuring that the plans for the Buying of their areas are appropriately integrated and actively influence the strategic direction of the business.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee the development of seasonal merchandising and buying plans for Leather Goods, Accessories, Home & License with input from local management and the merchandising team in Milan.
  • Execute and delegate research that is essential to the buying process; salient topics include current trends, market research, information about competitors’ current offerings as well as economic information and projections.
  • Partner with the planning department in reviewing sales and inventory targets by door, classification plans, and OTB to meet financial goals.
  • Determine assortment needs for each market and make recommendations based on specific business trends.
  • Ensure the alignment of buys with the overall company strategy.
  • Partner with merchandising team on product suggestions; recommend pricing strategies and provide feedback on the collection/needs and opportunities of the North American market.
  • Maximize sell thru utilizing strategic buying tactics and efficient in season management.
  • Identify poor performing styles; analyzing causes and determining steps to improve performance.
  • Collaborate with the Retail, Visual, and Logistics teams to plan and execute sales and events to showcase the product line-up.
  • Assist the Marketing team in selection of materials to highlight for various mailings and promotions.
  • Determine assortment needs for each market and make recommendations based on specific business trends.
  • Partner with VM department in the development of visual merchandising presentation guidelines.
  • Partner with Planning & Allocation department to analyze and manage inventory to ensure product is available in the right stores at the right time.
  • Coordinate product training for store employees to maximize awareness of the season’s collection and trends.

You’ll Need to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising preferred
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in merchandise buying, allocation and sales
  • Strong retail math, analysis & financial planning skills
  • Excellent communication, organizational & computer skills
  • Detail-oriented nature
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Leadership abilities and be able to multitask
  • Ability to travel for buys and store trainings/events
  • Self-motivation and ability to work effectively both independently as well as within a team
