Job Description

Position Summary:Responsible for in-library and outreach programs and providing reference and reader's advisory services. Participates in library materials selection and collection maintenance. Duties and Responsibilities

• Plans and implements programs and class/group visits as assigned for children ages preschool through 5th grade, and for adults who work with children
• Provides reference and reader's advisory services as scheduled
• Participates in library materials selection and collection maintenance. Recommends and orders materials assigned by department manager
• Researches and compiles annotated booklists or other devices for encouraging reading and the dissemination of information, including the library's website
• Participates in departmental, institutional, and regional meetings as assigned
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• A minimum of two years' experience in a public library (Children's Services preferred) or two or more years of experience working directly with children and families
• Proficiency in Spanish required

Knowledge, Skill & Ability

• Demonstrated ability to work with children
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interact with a wide variety of people
• Considerable knowledge of children's literature and child development
• Computer literacy
