Pride Health is hiring a Laboratory Assistant to support our client’s medical facility based in Irving TX 75063. This is a 3-month assignment with the possibility of a contract-to-hire opportunity and a great way to start working with a top-tier healthcare organization!

Core Hours: Monday - Friday, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Pay range: $20 per hour
Duration: 3 months+

**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Laboratory Assistant to join our team on the night shift. The primary purpose of this role is to assist laboratory professionals by performing various routine functions in a precise and accurate manner, facilitating production, and ensuring smooth operations in the laboratory. **Key Responsibilities:**
- Receive, sort, and process specimens within the department.
- Conduct routine maintenance on laboratory instruments.
- Perform laboratory tasks such as centrifuging specimens, printing additional labels, recording temperature charts, and storing/retrieving specimens.
- Prepare reagents and media as needed.
- Prepare specimens at workstations for testing, including building worklists, aliquoting samples, checking for clots and fibrin, inoculation, and slide preparation.
- Execute quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) duties as assigned.
- Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples.
- Decontaminate work areas to maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests.
- Maintain accurate files for department records.
- Change gas cylinders as required.
- Follow all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and adhere to safety regulations.
- Utilize laboratory computer systems and operate PCs for various tasks.
- Dispose of biohazardous materials safely and responsibly.
- Complete required training and competency checklists.
- Other duties as assigned to support laboratory operations.
**Education and Experience Requirements:**
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Medical Assistant training is helpful but not required.
- Preference given to candidates with math and science coursework.

- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage several tasks efficiently.
- Ability to retain and apply information once learned.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact respectfully and professionally with coworkers and both internal and external customers.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be detail-oriented and dependable.
