Job Description
This position will be responsible for delivering all levels of the Dental Hygiene program classes. Must be willing to teach a variety of methodologies including face-to-face and online. Assignments may also include teaching at multiple sites during the course of a semester. This instructor will also be responsible for course instruction and classroom management. Duties include, but are not limited to, teaching classroom, clinical, and laboratory sessions, curriculum development/restructuring, committee assignments, student academic advising, student recruitment, assessment of student learning, responsibility for equipment, materials, and supplies, review of adjunct faculty applications and credentials, and budget management. All candidates interviewed will be required to provide a teaching demonstration.
Required Qualification - Dental hygienist who is a graduate of a program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and possesses a Bachelor's degree or higher degree; or a dentist who has a background in education and the professional experience necessary to understand and fulfill the program goals
- Demonstrated skillset including safety and an understanding of the equipment used in the dental labs
- Ability to create a positive hands-on learning environment
- Ability to pass a background check, have a valid U.S driver's license and good driving record
Preferred Qualification - Demonstrated understanding of Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) accreditation standards.
- Knowledge and skill in educational theory and methodology including curricular design, development, implementation, and evaluation
- Previous student advising and counseling
- Ability to communicate and maintain positive working relationships with college personnel, health professionals, and students
- Ability to create a classroom environment conducive to optimal learning
Physical Demands Include occasional lifting of 10 pounds, the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, telephone, and other basic office equipment. Work is performed in a classroom environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and use a phone. Some travel, by vehicle, may be required. Reading, writing, calculating, and working with minimal supervision, a high degree of problem-solving, organizational skills, and high degree of inter-personal skills preferred. Hiring process includes ability to pass a background check, a valid driver's license, and a good driving record.
